HYP 2003, which is a widely used USB Crypto Token (hardware security module) specifically designed for storing Digital Signature Certificates (DSC).
In India, it is one of the most common tokens used for e-filing on portals like Income Tax, GST, MCA, other Citizen Service Government websites and EPFO.
Plug-and-Play (Auto): The "Auto" version comes with built-in driver software. When you plug it into a PC, it automatically prompts you to install the necessary middleware (drivers).
Security Standard: It is FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified, which is a high-level security requirement for cryptographic modules.
Storage: Securely stores the private key of your DSC. The key remains inside the token and cannot be copied or exported, preventing unauthorised use.
Password Protection: Access to the certificate is protected by a hardware-level PIN (User PIN).
Compatibility: Works seamlessly with Windows, Mac, and Linux environments for various digital signing tasks.
The HYP 2003 token is the physical "key" required for:
Income Tax & GST: Signing returns and documents.
MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs): For Director identification and company filings.
e-Tendering: Authenticating bids on government tender portals.
DGFT: For Import-Export Code (IEC) related transactions
Default PIN: Most HYP 2003 tokens come with a default PIN (often 12345678), which you should change immediately for security.
Token Locked: If you enter the wrong PIN too many times (usually 10 attempts), the token will get permanently locked to protect the data.
Driver Installation: If the "Auto" pop-up doesn't appear, go to "This PC" or "My Computer" and find the Virtual CD Drive created by the token to run the setup file manually.
